Charity Trap Shoot Raises $175,000 to Help Those Impacted by Homelessness

HomeAid Phoenix’s Second Annual Charity Trap Shoot recently hosted over 60 teams and 400 individuals from across the Valley’s home building industry. The single-day competition, which took place at the Ben Avery Clay Target Center, sold out for the second year in a row and generated $175,000 in charitable support.

“On any given night throughout Greater Phoenix, nearly 7,700 men, women, and children will experience homelessness,” Sam Leyvas, executive director of HomeAid Phoenix, said. “Core to our mission is a deep belief in the idea that everyone deserves a safe, stable and dignified place to call home.”

The event was widely supported by builders, sub-contractors, manufacturers, and suppliers, including 2022 Presenting Sponsor R/S Service & Supply, Inc. “HomeAid Phoenix and this event provide an opportunity for our industry to come together around a common cause – helping those impacted by homelessness to build new lives,” said R/S Service Principal/General Operations Manager Randy Freberg. “Giving back to the community has always been a part of who we are and we’re honored to make an even greater difference as Presenting Sponsor."

Funds raised from the annual charity event will benefit HomeAid’s housing development and community outreach programs designed to connect the skills and passions from the Phoenix building community with projects that will enhance and increase housing inventory and other supports for those experiencing homelessness.

“We’re grateful for the tremendous support of all of our sponsors, shooters, and volunteers,” said Don Murphy HomeAid Phoenix board president and division president of Shea Homes. “HomeAid Phoenix is a unique platform for our industry to leverage our expertise and resources to make a direct impact in the communities where we live and work, and the success of this year’s event means we’re well on our way to making good on our mission.”
