Valley Homebuilding Partners Collect 8,400 Pairs of Socks and Underwear During 2023 Seats & Feet Drive

The homebuilding industry came together for 3-weeks in May and June to collect urgently needed socks and underwear donations for the 3rd annual Seats & Feet Essentials Drive, culminating with a packing event at V.I.P. Mortgage in Scottsdale and the delivery of 24 boxes of sorted donations to 5 valley homeless shelters and organizations.

HomeAid Phoenix Executive Director, Cindy Quenneville, said “I am overwhelmed by the generosity of our homebuilding partners and all those that donated towards this important cause.” She went on to say that socks and underwear are the two most needed items at homeless shelters, yet they tend to be some of the least donated, allowing this drive for essential items to provide an instant impact on those experiencing homelessness right here in Phoenix.

The 3-week drive collected 8,400 pairs of socks and underwear, which were sorted by volunteers from partnering companies, and delivered to Andre House, House of Refuge, Human Services Campus, Maggie’s Place and Sojourner Center. Additionally, HomeAid Phoenix was able to provide an additional $1,000 donation to each organization as part of the collection efforts.

HomeAid has had a profound impact on the unsheltered community, bringing about significant positive changes. Through their generous donations to Andre House, HomeAid not only provides socks and underwear to our guests, but also instills a profound sense of belonging. Often overlooked, the transformative power of a fresh pair of undergarments and socks cannot be underestimated; it has the ability to restore a person’s sense of wholeness. Amidst enduring long, tiring days in the scorching heat, our guests find solace in being able to take a daily shower. Thanks to HomeAid’s invaluable assistance and contributions, we can offer them brand-new items, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
