Community Partner: House of Refuge

Mission: Located in southeast Mesa on part of the former Williams Air Force Base, House of Refuge maintains 88 housing units to provide safe and stable transitional housing to families who are experiencing homelessness. Professional staff work with families on regaining dignity, healing from trauma, finding employment, and ultimately obtaining permanent housing. Learn more: https://houseofrefuge.org/

Projects Captains: Shea Homes, Lennar, Pulte Homes, The New Home Company, Tri Pointe Homes, Ashton Woods, Mattamy Homes, Brookfield Residential, Arizona Tile, loadDepot, BrightView, New Home Star, and Thomas Title & Escrow.

Scope: A one-day volunteer blitz that brings the home building industry together to make a positive impact in the community. Volunteer teams work together to paint housing and shelter facilities for nonprofits serving those experiencing homelessness. Frequently, the first maintenance item to be removed from an operational budget is painting, so community partners may have gone years without this much-needed improvement. Exterior painting project for 13 homes on House of Refuge’s Mesa campus.
